Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a speaker. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos with commentary that analyze gender representations in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that investigates representations of women in narratives from popular culture. She's determined to dismantle stereotypes about women and how they are portrayed in popular media. In addition she aims to create the awareness of harassment on social media targeted towards women as well as the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the fields of social thought and political science at York University. She is also a highly-respected public presenter. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was interested in feminist issues, gender and gender equality from a very early age. When she graduated in 2009, in university she launched the Feminist Frequency web site. The determined lady had planned to create a web series on gender-based representations in video games. However, she was the subject of an online harassment campaign. It was not enough to deter her. It actually increased her importance to be a feminist as well as media critique. Her notable contributions to the field of feminist are recognized with numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and is the founder of Feminist Frequency. This non-profit educational organization studies women's roles within the popular culture stories.
