In 2015 at 19 she debuted her first single Here. It received lots of acclaim and was well received both by critics and listeners. It reached number 19 on the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the song one of their Top Songs in the year 2015. The same year, she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks that peaked at Billboard charts. This includes those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. According to an interview Cara gave together with Rap Up, this track had lots of significance for a lot people listening who were drawn to her personal story of accepting and loving your self. Cara integrates messages about love and kindness in her songs. Her music is an expression of her own personal struggles in dealing with anxiety and depression. Reuters said that she described her album "half tumultuous, half perfected". Her growth was aided by therapy and advises people to seek out help when needed. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian origins. The guitar was gifted to her by her parents after she was 10, which ignited her musical passion. She began covering her favorite songs when she was 13, to prove to the world she was a talented musician and the determination required to be a singer. Sweater Weather became her most well-known song. An album label, EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her write songs.
