Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996, to parents of Italian heritage. Her first guitar was purchased by her parents after she turned 10 which ignited the passion for music. In the year 2003, she turned 13, she began singing her favorite tracks on YouTube. It was a great opportunity to show others that she possessed both the talent and the courage. Sweater Weather is one of those covers that led to her being discovered at the time by EP Entertainment.
