At 19 years old at the time, she dropped Here, her first single. The song was an instant smash and garnered praise from both listeners and critics alike. The song reached the top spot at 19 on the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the best songs of the year. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was the first of five tracks which reached the top spots on Billboard as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as Billboard Hot 100. This particular track was special because it was based on an interview with rapper Rap-Up, many of the listeners were inspired by her story of doubting herself and learning how to love herself. Cara includes messages of love and kindness throughout her songs. Her music is an expression of her personal struggle with mental illness and insomnia. In an Reuters interview, she described her album as half tumultuous and half well-crafted. Therapy helped her grow and advises people to seek assistance if needed. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on the 11th of July 1996. In 2010, her parents gave her a brand-new guitar that she was able to use to further develop her passion for music. Three years later at the age of 13 she started covering her most loved songs via YouTube an important media platform to prove to the world she possessed the talent skills and courage to become an artist. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the first thing that made her stand out. EP Entertainment gave her an opportunity to develop and record her own tracks.
