According to Reuters' interview, she has described her album as half-tumultuous and half-perfected. Therapy has helped her develop and encourages people to try it too. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. Her birth date was July 11, 1996 to parents with Italian descent. Her first guitar was purchased from her parents at the time she was 10 years old, which sparked her passion for music. She began to cover the songs she loved at thirteen to show the world she had the skills and the courage necessary to be a singer. Sweater Weather is among the covers that resulted in her being noticed at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label allowed her create new songs of her own.
