In the year 2015, at age 19, she released her debut single Here. The single garnered a lot of praise and was well-received from critics as well as listeners. The track reached the top 19 of both Billboard Hot 100 in Canada and also on the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song among the 2015's most memorable Songs. The same year, she released her debut album Know It All with the third single Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which peaked on the Billboard charts. This includes those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track in question was unique since based on her interview with Rap-Up many listeners were inspired by her story of self-doubt, and her journey to learn how to accept herself. Cara has earned a name for including messages on the importance of mental health, kindness and love of self in her songs. The inspiration for her music is drawn from her own personal journey as she has been battling mental health issues and insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, the album was described as semi-tumultuous and half-perfected. Her growth was aided through therapy. She also encourages her fellow singers, if needed, to reach out for assistance. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996 to parents with Italian origins. Her parents gave her a guitar when she was 10, and it ignited her love for music. At the age of 13she began covering songs she liked on YouTube in order to show the public that she was a talented artist and had the courage to pursue a career as musician. Sweater Weather is among these covers which led to her being noticed to be signed by EP Entertainment. This record label let her write her own songs.
