In 2015 at 19 she released her debut single, Here. It was a huge hit and received praise from critics and listeners alike. It peaked at number 19 on the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs in 2015. The same year, she released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five tracks that were the first to reach Billboard's charts. It was different because many people related to the conversation she conducted with rapper Rap-Up on her journey in learning to love and be herself. Cara's songs be filled with messages of kindness self-love, self-love and mental wellness. The inspiration for her music is drawn from her own personal journey as she has suffered from mental health problems and insomnia. In a Reuters interview, she has described her album as half-tumultuous and half-perfected. Therapy helped her grow and she encourages others to seek help if necessary. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since 1996. Her parents are of Italian origin. Alessia Cara's parents gave her their first guitar when she was just 10 years old. It was the beginning of her journey musically. She began covering her favourite songs at age 13, to prove to the world she had the skills and the courage necessary to be a singer. Indeed one of the covers Sweater Weather was able to get her noticed by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to compose and record tracks.
