When she was 19 She released Here, her first single. The single garnered a lot of acclaim and was well received both by critics and listeners. It reached number 19 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone listed the song as one of most popular Songs of 2015. At the same time that she released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of her five original tracks featured in the Billboard Charts which include Billboard Hot 100 for Canada as well as Billboard 200 for Canada's Album Charts. The song was particularly memorable due to her interview with Rap-Up many listeners related to her journey of self-doubt, and her journey to learn how to accept herself. Cara's songs often include positive messages regarding mental health, and the importance of loving oneself. The inspiration for her music comes from Cara's personal struggle to overcome mental health problems as well as insomnia. According to an Reuters interview she describes her album as half-tumultuous and half well-crafted. She claims she has grown through therapy and she encourages others to seek help when necessary. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born on July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian heritage. She was given a guitar by her parents when she was 10 years old, which sparked the passion for music. In the age of thirteen, she began singing songs she adored on YouTube to prove to her fans that she was talented and had the courage to make a profession of musician. One of the songs Sweater Weather got her attention by a label known as EP Entertainment which allowed her to compose and record her songs.
