She released her debut single, Here in 2015 when she was 19 years old. It was a hugely acclaimed track by both critics and listeners. It reached number 19 on the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of 2015. In that same year she debuted her album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being one of the five original songs which peaked on the Billboard charts. This includes those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. In her Rap-Up interview the listeners discussed Cara's struggle to find self-love as well as the doubts she faced. Cara has earned a name for her messages on the importance of mental health, kindness and self-love in her songs. All of it is a result of her personal experiences as she suffered from mental health problems as well as insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, she described the album as being half turbulent and half well-crafted. The therapy she received helped her grow and urges people to try it too. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian heritage. She was given a guitar by her parents after she was 10, which ignited her passion for music. Three years later at the age of 13 she began covering her favorite songs via YouTube an important media platform to prove to the world she had the talents and determination to develop into a singer. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the first thing that made her stand out. EP Entertainment gave her the chance to write and compose her own music.
