Her debut track Here was released in 2015. The track received praise from music critics and listeners. The song peaked at number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the most memorable songs of 2015. That same year, she debuted her album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being one of five original tracks which peaked on the Billboard charts including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. The track in question was unique since based on her interview with Rap-Up many listeners shared their experiences through self-doubt and discovering how to love herself. Cara includes messages of compassion and self-love in her songs. She has been struggling with anxiety and insomnia that affected her life. Reuters said that she described her album "half tumultuous, half perfected". Her development was assisted through therapy. She also encourages her fellow singers when they need to seek assistance. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born on July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian descent. At the age of 10 old, her parents bought her a guitar, which was the starting point of her passion for music. She began covering her favourite songs at age 13 to prove to the world she had the skills and the determination required to be the next singer. Sweater Weather is one of these covers which led to being discovered to be signed by EP Entertainment. This record label gave her the opportunity to create new songs of her own.
